Job description
Our site in Le Creusot has been working in Railway Rolling Stock industry for over 170 years. Developing from a locomotive builder – the site has moved toward specialization on the Design and Production of Bogies. Total amount of bogies manufactured /year is about 2500.

Headed by the site Managing Director, the workforce is today around 660p, including also Production.




DIRECTOR ENGINEERING

Location : Le Creusot

The Engineering Director is reporting hierarchically to the Site Managing Director and the role has as mission to lead the Design Engineering function for Bogie Sub-System and manage approximately 100 highly qualified engineers and technicians based in 3 different sites: Le Creusot (F), Salzgitter (D) and Neuhausen (CH).

Mission
Detect and evaluate new technologies and carry out competitor benchmarks
Define and supervise Research and Development Programs in line with Platform and Market requirements under guidance of the Technology Approval Board
Supervise the definition of product and project design specifications and manage the design process under respect of QCD targets and under guidance of the Product Portfolio Approval Board
Manage the validation of bogie components & systems in all stages of design and service
Manage workload and competencies for bogie engineering, consolidating 3 sites with focus on people satisfaction and attraction of new talents
Actively drive a core/non-core strategy on engineering tasks and an internationalization of engineering population
Support customers in technical issues and participate in standardization and research committees
Supervise and control Product Safety
Desired Skills and Experience
With a Mechanical Engineering background, the candidate should have acquired at least 8 years of professional experience in the Manufacturing - preferred from the Railway industry(rolling stock, components), acquired through major engineering and technical management positions.
Technical skills:
Strong Engineering background, Experience in the railway industry (rolling stock, components or operators) is preferred
Multiple technical skills in practical applications (mechanical engineering, calculation methods and models, processes (DFQ), etc.) CAD and PDM Experience. Tools management

Management:
Focus on People Management with strong delegation & follow-up of results - rather than being a Master Expert in all domains,
Demonstrated Team spirit and staff management skills with focus on people motivation and attraction of talents,
Strong personality able to impose standardization approach combined with economic thinking,

The candidate must be fluent in English. French is highly recommended.

He/She should moreover be:
Ready to innovate and introduce new technologies ; eventually move to integrated solutions (e.g. electro-mechanical),
A visionary, not an expert ; he/she should be able to motivate and challenge his/her team to consider new ideas and solutions,
A “”field worker” able to defend his ideas in front of the Management Committee, able to impose a technical authority,
